Note: This has nothing to do with Santa...
...or your green-mindedness...
Technology is the most wonderful necessity we can NEVER live without. EVER. In fact, it has become a basic need alongside air and water *...okay not really...you get what I mean...*
But you and I know that where there is good, there is also evil. Here's a list of technology's side effects you ought to know.
1. Isolation
Technology is like man's new best friend. The dog's out of the picture...
...scratch that. THE WHOLE FAMILY'S OUT OF THE PICTURE. Doesn't it weird you out that we teens today are WAY more comfortable taking selfies rather than family portraits?
Yes it's a fine example of self- expression... but having more friends in Facebook and other social media sites than in real life could be dangerous to your social health.
2. Poor sleeping habits
This goes out to all the nocturnal folks out there *wink.wink.*It's just so hard to put down the laptop at 2:30 in the morning when you're still stalking Alex Pettyfer in cyberspace.
3. Distractions.Distractions.Distractions
4. A gold fish's attention span
This is actually the negative effect my mom and my cousin are suffering from. One minute, you thought they're laughing about a serious problem you have... and then you realize they were tuned in on 9GAG.
5."Little" addictions
Game addiction, internet addiction, social media addiction, phone addiction... porn addiction, etc.,etc.No, darling. There are no such thing as little addictions.
6. Stranger danger
Cyberspace is the Motherland of deceit. Catfish and posers are in every corner... for all we know, that hot girl you were chatting with in Facebook last night might actually be some psychotic dude in weird duck pyjamas.7. Stresssssssss
In addition to all the projects and homework stacked on your study table, you still HAVE to find time to post the new stolen pics of your crush in Instagram.*congratulations*8. Pain. Everywhere.
Head pains, back pains, neck pains, wrist pains, eye pains, ear pains... These are all so common to us, tech geeks.9. Privacy probs
Now, crazy people know where you live; hackers can check your secret files out; and your wonderful friends can spread that awkward photo of you eating crackers before class. Nice.
10. Ultra laziness
Got a research assignment that involves a LOT of paperwork? No problem! Copy. Paste. Print.11. Too much exposure
Little kids vocabulary can be very colorful these days... I came across a kid while doing a voluntary event once. He saw us and he shouted WONDERFUL, EXTRAORDINARY words I will NEVER forget as long as I live.Physical, sexual, and verbal violence seen in TV and the internet can affect a person's way of thinking in more ways than one.
12. Rowng graMinG
Due to trending social-digital languages, people now find it hard to express their ideas in proper grammar and correct spelling. Admit it. For all we know, tomorow, we might have stoped using corect English.Note: F u dint n0tiz da 3 badly speld wrds in da laSt cntens, U myt b in BIG trble.
13. Increase of bullying cases
To this, I will take on a much serious tone. The pile of unforgettable cases of stalking and cyberbullying has been rising to a much higher level. A lot of individuals lost the sense of social boundaries and respect to others' rights, thinking about the freedom of speech and self- expression.
Therefore, PLEASE RESPECT your fellow cyber citizens.
14. Extravagant bills
Electricity bills and debts in internet cafés that are much higher than your tuition fee... can you still say love is more important than money? Not only is this bad for our wallets, but excess energy consumption is totally bad for Mommy Earth.
15. Lost sense of reality
In the gaming world, you can be anybody you want to be.And the problem is that you can't stop thinking about how awesome you are even when you're taking Algebra exams.
16. Health booboos
Too much tech can have devastating effects in your psychological and physical health.
Neurosis, a mental disorder, can causes people to suffer from mental and emotional disturbances, such as anxiety, phobias and delusions. Being convinced you’re very ill after looking up strange diseases on
WebMD or thinking you are famous because you have had a viral video are some ways Neurosis lurks its way into your mind.Other things to look out to are eye problems, hearing defects, and wrist and spinal injuries.
17. Over-dependence
Ever since the invention of the internet, kids can't find the difference between knowledge and internet dependence. I mean, like, dude. We can't even think on our own anymore. Spelling and typing documents have to be referred to the grammar checker. Small problems and assignments have to be copied in the internet.
Common sense? Not so common anymore.
Now, I don't have anything against technology... In fact technology could be my future life.
What I want to instill in this post is that if we don't keep ourselves in check, technology's wonderful works would become stained with the ugliness we, ourselves, have manifested in the first place.
Now, if you'll excuse me...
I'm gonna stare at Alex Pettyfer's hot photo in my desktop's background...

You like Alex Pettyfer? Well, me too!
